Celebrate UW Yoga Month! Progress through Autumn quarter with improved mental and physical well-being by signing up for any of these yoga and meditation series and an all day meditation retreat with The Whole U and UW Recreation. Yoga Classes

Yoga Series at the UW Tower

Starting September 24  •  Tuesdays 7:00 to 8:00 a.m.  •  UW Tower  •  $55

Ground your day with a warm and welcoming yoga practice which leaves you feeling fresh and inspired. The instructor of this 10 week series uses clear resonant voice and lovely imagery to guide you through meditation and evenly paced yoga postures. Classes begin with a centering warm-up, move into Vinyasa flow (breath with movement), and complete with a final relaxation. Beginners through advanced practitioners are welcome. Please bring your own yoga mat (and optional props eg. blanket, blocks, bolster).

Vinyasa Series at the HUB

Starting October 1  •  Tuesdays 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.  •  HUB  •  $50

This 9-week spring vinyasa yoga series is a dynamic heat building practice that synchronizes movement with breath. This class utilizes progressive and creative sequencing to build towards a peak pose that enlivens your body, mind, and heart. Cultivate physical strength, cardiovascular health, mindful awareness, and a greater sense of overall well-being. Some experience with yoga recommended. Please bring your own matt.

Vinyasa Series at SLU

Starting October 9  •  Wednesdays 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.  •  South Lake Union  •  $45

This 8 week class is taught by Li Zhang (Lily). Li is a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher and is excited for the opportunity to share the spirit of yoga with the UW SLU Community. Her classes infuse thoughtful sequencing, movements coordinated with breath, and various posture options to support all-levels. Li also invites in meditative mental awareness so practitioners can observe body sensations, thoughts, and feelings with a sense of openness and ease.

Beginners through advanced practitioners are welcome. Please bring your own yoga mat or towel (and optional props eg. blanket, blocks, bolster).

Register by October 7.


Meditation Retreat

October 26 from 9:30 a.m.  – 4:00 p.m. in the Waterfront Activities Center

Moving Inwards: Introspection, Creativity, and Sweet Connection (a day-long retreat)

Autumn is a time to celebrate the harvest and all of the gifts of summer. Take time out to move inwards as we begin to transition towards the winter season, connect with your body, sit and breathe, and use your creative abilities to get clear and intentional for the months ahead.

In this day long immersive retreat  you will:

  • Acknowledge the gifts that are currently present in your world
  • Move your body through simple movements to increase circulation and breath flow
  • Utilize meditative techniques (loving-kindness meditation, breath mediation, body scan relaxation, and journaling) to move inside and gain more clarity
  • Spend a little time creating an inspirational collage as a tool that will support your intentions and focus
  • Connect with other like-minded individuals within the UW community
  • Take time out from your daily routines to rest, rejuvenate, and savor physical and mental spaciousness

Meditation Classes

Autumn Deep Relaxation Series at the HUB

Series A: Starting October 8  •  Tuesdays 12:00 to 12:30 p.m.  •  HUB  •  $30

Series B: Starting October 10  •  Thursdays 12:45 to 1:15 p.m.  •  HUB  •  $30

This 25 minute progressive relaxation will support your body to release built up tension, let go of mental stagnation, and rejuvenate wholeheartedly so you can reengage with the rest of your day. Lay down, unplug, and simply be. No prior experience with yoga or meditation required. Bring a yoga mat, towel and any added layers as you will be laying down the whole time.

Register by October 8 for Tuesday Series.
Register by October 10 for Thursday series.


Autumn Meditation Series at the HUB

Series A: Starting October 8  •  Tuesdays 12:45 to 1:15 p.m. •  HUB  •  $30

Series B: Starting October 10  •  Thursdays 12:00 to 12:30 p.m.  •  HUB  •  $30

A practice that strengthens mental attentiveness and facilitates the ability to step back, take inventory of the present moment, and make more skillful and empowered decisions for the sake of a more centered, peaceful, and enriched life. This class utilizes brief spinal warm ups and various meditation focal points that provide a strong foundation for greater awareness. Increase mental clarity, improve productivity, reduce stress, and gain a more expanded conscious perspective. No prior experience with meditation required.

Register by October 10 for Thursday series.

Need a stretch, and working at the UW Tower?  Come join us! We meet every Thursday for FREE yoga classes! Beginner to intermediate flow yoga integrated with breath. Bring your mat and comfortable attire.

Harborview Medical Center

Yoga – Join The Whole U and UW SOM Wellness Committee every Monday and Thursday for FREE yoga classes at Harborview! All levels are welcome, bring your mat and water bottle to join in on these fun, relaxing yoga sessions.

What health classes will be offered up at Northwest UW campus?
Something , I would hope since there are 2 campuses moving forward 2020.
There is a full gym , showers, at UW , OPMC. Would you please reopen it?PLEASE
